This is my grandmother, Mim—a woman whose life and legacy have shaped mine in ways I am forever grateful for. Every year, when her birthday comes around, I pause to reflect on the profound influence she had on me, and how fortunate I was to be raised under her care. Her words, her actions, and the quiet strength she carried through every moment of her life are imprinted in my heart. These memories have become a wellspring of comfort and wisdom as I navigate my own path through life. Even though she has now passed beyond the veil, her influence continues to sustain me.
My grandfather, affectionately known as Pimpa, died from war-related injuries at the young age of 49, leaving Mim a widow with the enormous task of supporting their son through medical school. She came to live with us in the early 1970s, and I shared a room and bed with her for several years until her granny flat was built. Those nights, nestled beside her, became some of the most formative of my life.
As we would drift off to sleep, I often asked her to tell me stories. [It’s a tradition I still carry with the boyfriend 🙈]. Her stories were always about her family, their gatherings, and the moments that shaped them. Through her living memory, I came to know my ancestors—people I never met, but whose lives felt real and vivid because of the way she shared them. I know her life in great detail because she took the time to tell me, over and over again, and for that, I am deeply blessed.
Grandparents hold a unique and irreplaceable place in a child’s heart. To call her my grandmother is one of the greatest honours of my life. At my sister’s recent immunotherapy session, her oncology pharmacist made a thoughtful visit. Though his expertise is in pharmacology,-backed by a PhD- he took a moment to share something more personal. Drawing on both research and his own experience, he spoke about the profound impact of prayer, journalling, and mindset in the healing process.
He made it clear that while medicine plays a crucial role, these practices offer additional strength-helping patients not only manage the emotional weight of a diagnosis but also tap into inner resilience. He encouraged my sister to incorporate journaling as part of her healing journey, explaining how it can provide a sense of calm, clarity, and purpose.
This visit was a powerful reminder. Healing is more than physical, it’s also about addressing the emotional and spiritual challenges that come with treatment. For many, journalling becomes an essential part of that process, creating a space for reflection, understanding, and growth.

At my sister’s recent immunotherapy session, her oncology pharmacist made a thoughtful visit. Though his expertise is in pharmacology,-backed by a PhD- he took a moment to share something more personal. Drawing on both research and his own experience, he spoke about the profound impact of prayer, journalling, and mindset in the healing process.
He made it clear that while medicine plays a crucial role, these practices offer additional strength-helping patients not only manage the emotional weight of a diagnosis but also tap into inner resilience. He encouraged my sister to incorporate journaling as part of her healing journey, explaining how it can provide a sense of calm, clarity, and purpose.
This visit was a powerful reminder. Healing is more than physical, it’s also about addressing the emotional and spiritual challenges that come with treatment. For many, journalling becomes an essential part of that process, creating a space for reflection, understanding, and growth.

THE RAW REALITY OF LIFE
“The best-laid plans can unravel in a moment, learn to pivot.” —Anon.
The past weeks have felt like my running shoes are burning from the speedy flow of lava that’s chasing me down the hill. Ever felt like that? When the mortal condition reminds you that this life is not designed to be your permanent residence.
While the eruption of last week has passed, I’m still taking moments to catch my breath, reflect, and ponder to prepare for the known and, as best as I can, for the unknown.
My baby sister received an unexpected breast cancer diagnosis. The following day, the boyfriend (aka, husband) injured his hand, requiring emergency surgery, and will face a year of recovery with one more surgery that we know of still to come. He was trying to surprise me by completing the glass pool fence!
I have been trying to complete so much on the back end of my business. As you can appreciate, in this moment it’s not what matters most, but it lingers in my mind.
In a moment of despair and during my pity party for one, in the quiet hours of the early morning, my phone pinged. It was a notification that provided deep meaning and strength. A significant moment and message that allowed me to get back up, to know that all these challenges are temporary, and that God has already worked it out. This week will be an “in-the-boat” week 😜
I just want to say a heartfelt thank you for your patience, as you hadn’t been previously privy to the unfolding that is “my life”. It’s been life-changing, but we can handle that. Even if we cry, we can handle change.
I’ll be working on the website, and it will be back online—not as a launch but slowly, with thoughtful, incremental progress.
I love what I do and am inspired by you.

It’s as bitter sweet day-dads presence is gone but his influence, legacy and memories remain.
A man without guile, humble in nature, a gifted storyteller and a reverence for God. It’s taken me all of this day to share these simple but profoundly impactful truths about my dad.
On Father’s Day he would have sent us a Father’s Day message, told us “the bigger the present, the more I Iove you,” and insisted on a Chinese feed.
Here’s to the men that love and bless their families Happy Father’s Day. 🤍

It’s international dog day. What a blessing dogs are. They have been wonderful protectors and companions.
Our doggos are our bebes, part of our family and we love them dearly.
We currently share our lives with Bosley, Bénté, and our newest addition, Barker. But our love of Sharpei’s began with Mr Bojangles and Brinkley, who have “crossed rainbow bridge.”
My Grandmother use to say Dog is God spelt backwards, very fitting for nans best friend. Here’s to the canines that share and bless our lives🤍🐕🤍
